We’ve got some fun news about the Intermissionary Gathering in Nashville, October 11-14.
Here’s the latest:
1. Venue Change: Since many people are flying in for the event, camping was becoming logistical issue, so we’ve decided to move the event somewhere equally awesome, near Nashville, but that has more amenities. That means - NO MORE CAMPING!
Your ticket price includes a shared cabin space at Edgar Evins State Park. Each cabin sleeps up to 6 with two double beds and a sofa couch… so we’re still roughing it 😊You can still bring a sleeping bag if you wish and if you’re still dying to sleep outside, you can rent your own tent site here. The primitive sites are like $11/night.
BTW - Edgar Evins State Park is located on the shores of Center Hill Lake in the steep, hilly Eastern Highland Rim. The 6,000 acre park provides many recreational opportunities, cabins and campsites on one of the most beautiful reservoirs in Tennessee. The park also has a large on-site marina with restaurant and gift shop. https://www.edgarevinsmarina.com/restaurant/ Word on the street is you can rent kayaks too.
2. Registration: Begins at 15:00 on Friday, 11 October. Again, we’ve got cabins reserved so no need to bring a tent and all the camping equipment.
3. Meals: Intermissionary is providing coffee and breakfast items in your cabin for Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning and hosting a feast on Sunday evening. Cabins come with a small kitchenette so you can bring snacks and food for your meal and onsite there is a small convenience store and a restaurant just a short distance away with some delicious looking options. We recommend grabbing a few groceries on your way up to the park to provision for lunch Saturday and Sunday and dinner Friday and Saturday.
4. Teaching: Due to the venue change we now have limited the number of spaces - so now we’re somewhere between a retreat, a campout and a slumber party. We will have six main sessions and two breakout sessions with worship time and campfire each evening. We’ve built in time for you to process and relax or play so you’ll be able to enjoy nature’s playground too.
We are also planning to Livestream some of the sessions, (where appropriate) gather some content for upcoming Intermissionary projects and get a few of you live on camera telling your stories. That last one is optional of course. We’re excited about the community we are building. This whole thing is new in the member care space, but what we’re aiming for is more of a wrap-around approach to reentry, rather than just the standard 4-day debriefing. We’ll talk more about that later. You all are on the ground floor of this work.
I (Erin) am also going to do some live coaching sessions in the group. This is an intimate process that obviously won’t be live-streamed but if you’ve got an area of struggle, it’s likely someone else does too. That’s what’s so powerful about live coaching in a group.
FYI - We still can still handle a few more people, so if you know someone who wanted to come but hadn’t booked in yet, tell them to reach out to Kj@intermissionary.com
Also, we’ve created a Facebook group for participants so you can connect with other people attending the retreat beforehand. Its also a place that you can coordinate if you are driving and space in your car for the drive up, meals, etc.
